FibroMen

Because Men Get Fibromyalgia Too

What We Do.

Picture
Fibromyalgia is a much misunderstood condition for both sexes, but in men it is often ignored or misdiagnosed. Statistics reveal a 75% / 25% split of fibromyalgia patients - with 25% being men - we believe that this figure does not acurately convey the true picture and that, for a number of reasons, men are not being diagnosed.

The specific aim of FibroMen is to raise awareness of the syndrome in men. We aim to achieve this through effective and persistent engagement via a number of social media channels, events and other public-facing activities.

Our social media channels include Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Google+ where we actively engage with the public and community groups related to chronic conditions such as, but not limited to, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome / (M.E) and Lupus.

By effectively engaging with these communities and by participating in structured events and activities around the subject of male health in general, as well as fibromyalgia syndrome, we hope to raise awareness amongst the wider public.

Once we have engaged with the wider community we hope to begin to establish a presence nationally whereby we can begin to offer in-depth support and counselling to men with the condition as well as supporting their partners, carers and families in understanding the condition and preparing them to cope with most of the symptoms, the highs and the lows, of fibromyalgia.

The aim of this site is to raise awareness of Fibromyalgia and associated conditions in men. It is specifically aimed at, but not exclusive to, male sufferers, their carers and families affected by the syndrome.
